Summer in Snowshoe

escape the hot, humid weather and spend a few days in snowshoe!  the mountain is usually 15-20 degrees cooler than places like dc and northern virginia.

mountain biking is the perfect activity for the cooler weather.  there are numerous trails as well as terrain parks for bikers.  Snowshoe has one of the best mountain bike courses in the mid atlantic.

Don't forget about hiking. snowshoe has done a great job marking trails for all types of experience.  The Cheat mountain ridge trail is literally in our backyard! you can see it from our kitchen window. This trail will lead to ‘thorny flat’ which is the tallest point in snowshoe at 4848’ above sea level. It will also bring you to the fire tower which will be accessible during the warmer months. you can climb the tower to the top, and at times, see the cass coal train in the distance. Nearby, you have the cass train scenic tour. Approximately 20 minutes from our home is cass, wv where you can ride the train through the mountains.
